Pizza with Yogurt Sauce

I don’t know about you but pizza Friday has quickly become my favorite dinner of the week! I often hear clients call pizza a ‘bad’ or ‘unhealthy’ meal choice. But what if you looked at pizza and saw color+fiber, carbs, protein, and healthy fats instead? Pizza checks all the boxes for a balanced meal!

To mix things up rather than the traditional pizza with red sauce, this recipe will up the protein, vitamin B12, and calcium on this pizza by using Greek yogurt and ricotta cheese instead.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pizza dough (pre-made or homemade) for ~10” pizza

  • ¼ cup extra virgin olive oil

  • ½ cup 2% Greek yogurt

  • ½ cup ricotta

  • 2 minced garlic cloves

  • 1 tsp salt

  • ¼ cup parmesan cheese

  • Any veggies you’d like as a topping

Directions:

  • Preheat the oven to 425 degrees

  • Place or spread dough on a pan

  • In a small pan on the stove, heat the olive oil and sauté the veggies and garlic

  • While the veggies are cooking, in a small bowl mix together the greek yogurt, ricotta, and salt. Spread mixture across the dough then top with cooked veggies and garlic.

  • Top with parmesan cheese to taste.

  • Bake for about 12-15 minutes or until the edges are golden brown

Pair this with a spinach salad or steamed veggies for a beautifully balanced pizza Friday!
